Term of the Week: Oxidative Stress
Let’s talk about something that quietly affects so many of us — oxidative stress. In most cases, it’s the starting point for autoimmune diseases and chronic illness. But what is it, really?
In simple terms, oxidative stress happens when there’s an imbalance — too many free radicals and not enough antioxidants to keep them in check. Free radicals are unstable molecules that try to “borrow” from your healthy cells, leaving a trail of damage behind. When this goes on too long, it can affect your DNA, weaken your cells, and open the door to serious illness.
So where do antioxidants come in?
Think of them as your body’s superheroes — swooping in to calm the chaos and protect your cells from harm.
Antioxidants = Superheroes.
When you fill your plate with antioxidant-rich foods, you create space for your body to restore, repair, and renew itself. And fall happens to offer some of the best superhero foods nature has to give:
Squash
Hibiscus
Carrots
Leeks
Eat beautifully. Heal deeply.✨
