Just Sick!
3 Surprising foods that are making you sick

This issue is a special one. The need for this newsletter happened at a time when people were the sickest they had ever been. The increase in illness has been accompanied by a surge in the desire to make better choices. The primary concern relates to deliberate misinformation regarding certain foods that are allegedly healthy while being unequivocally harmful to one’s health. We will debunk some of the most common notions in addition to exposing some new ones that are on our radar.
During this hiatus, I had the pleasure of spending time with my family. One of them was my nephew. He is 4 months old. And just out of shear curiosity, I inquired about his food. His formula was made from a brand called Enfamil, which was suggested by his doctor in addition to Similac. I took a look at the ingredients and immediately became unsettled. For context, nutrition ingredients are presented in order from most to least used ingredient. The first ingredient listed was corn syrup, followed by milk and whey protein solids (SOY), and vegetable oil. This is not a formula for a healthy baby, but a concoction for type 2 diabetes mellitus. The George Institute for Global Health conducted a study this year that found 2/3 of baby food found in supermarkets is unhealthy and does not meet the requirements set by the World Health Organization.
The shock that I experienced was not from the concept of deceptive food products but from the complete disregard and care for our children. I just could not fathom that it would start at such a young age. I have always known I am a firm believer that the Food Industry is the most powerful industry known to man, even more powerful than Big Pharma. The following are the top 3 Myths that the food industry sold to us, which have been proven to be both unhealthy and completely false.

I need my protein
MYTH 1: WE NEED SOOOOO MUCH PROTEIN
Ever since the inception of the food pyramid in 1992, the concept of maximum animal protein and animal milk has been promoted, taught, and implemented nationwide. This structure has been the foundation and guideline to promote healthy eating habits but unfortunately it is the pathway to the top 5 most common illnesses. Here is what you don’t know. The USDA food pyramid that insists on you eating chicken and milking cows to stay healthy was heavily funded and influenced by the dairy, meat, and grain industry like Kraft foods, Tyson Foods, and Smithfield Foods to name a few.
Many of these government entities that appear to be put in place to protect the public from misinformation like the FDA, USDA, and many others have ties to the very entities that intentionally misguide the people. This is like finding out that your police department is being funded by the criminals.

So, how much protein do we actually require for optimum health? The answer is actually a formula. We all have different weights, ages, and sizes, so divide the number of pounds you are by 2.7, which is approximately how many grams you require. For example, if you weigh 150 lbs., 150/2.7 = 55 g. There are some different variants like if you are over 60, an athlete, or pregnant or breastfeeding, but this is a slight increase.
Rest assured that protein is present in virtually every food group. Therefore, it is very likely that you ARE NOT and will not ever be deficient in it. In fact, roughly 1% of Americans are protein deficient, and most consume more than the recommended daily intake. However, if you still have concerns, 2 cups of lentils or black beans will give you an extra 30-40 grams per day.
For aspiring body builders and chronic dieters, do not make the mistake of following a professional bodybuilder culture. There is a reason why their mortality rate is 47 years old. You must discontinue the ideology of health being more focused on an aesthetic image rather than homeostasis(balance). In other words, a 6-pack does not mean you are healthy. I feel also compelled to mention that having your gut peel 6 inches from your waist ALSO IS UNHEALTHY, no matter if your doctor says you are healthy or not. OVERSTAND THIS: What a doctor believes is healthy is either a medicated illness or lack of disease. Many people have strokes and heart attacks that have never been diagnosed with an illness.
What does the science say about eating excessive amounts of meat (protein)? For starters, the science very specifically condemns all processed meat. It is directly linked to high blood pressure, heart attacks and stroke. Here are some examples of processed meat: lunch meat, bacon, sausage, hot dogs, and chicken nuggets. Basically, all the common foods found in children’s diet. This is done intentionally. The earlier we get sick, the sooner we can pay big pharma. If this helps you make a better decision, in July 2024, Boar’s Head, the leading company for lunch meats did a huge recall on 7 million pounds of their meat and poultry products as it contributed to the hospitalization and deaths of citizens. Since starting this newsletter, the number of deaths has increased.
Excessive protein intake has been linked to chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, heart disease, and breast cancer. If you are set on getting more protein, I suggest you pivot and try some plant options such as Quinoa and Hemp. Personally, I am not a fan of soy, but if you are, tempeh is also an option. Be more intentional about your health and recognize that food is medicine, but capitalism has made it into an industry that seeks to earn a lifetime customer. Therefore, you have to be mindful of what you believe and should always do your research.

Got Milk?
MYTH 2: MILK DOES A BODY GOOD..
Milk possibly has had the best marketing campaign known to man. From the milk mustaches to the emphasis on strength being directly related to its consumption, people have antagonized their bodies with this toxic waste for far too long. Here is the truth. Milk DOES NOT do a body good.
So, let’s break this thing down. Just like humans, when a cow produces milk, it is during and directly after they have given birth. During that time, the cow has a very high level of estrogen, in addition to the dairy farming practice that ingests hormones in the animal to produce more milk. The ingestion of these hormones through dairy consumption IN ANY FORM, meaning foods that are also made with dairy milk, creates a hormonal imbalance in the human body. That hormonal imbalance contributes to disease such as cancer among others.
Cancer in particular is considered a hormone dependent disease. The cancers that are most hormone-dependent are prostate, ovarian, and breast cancer. The connection between milk consumption and various reproductive issues like endometriosis and PCOS has been vastly studied and proven to be true. I have a saying, if it’s no good for the mother, it is no good for the child. And to ignore that would mean you ignore that childhood milk consumption has had connections to accelerating sexual maturation. The reality is our kids are exemplifying adult features and desires earlier and earlier. And the ads that propagate the ideology that dairy milk is needed for health should be criminal.
Understand that the food industry is being weaponized. There are hundreds of thousands of tests that support that milk in no way builds stronger bones, it actually contributes to weaker bones, but they can still advertise messaging that opposes the science. They can also influence medical culture by having our health care professionals suggest it, when there are far safer alternatives that 50% of the nation does not have an allergy to. Yes, approximately 80% of African Americans are lactose intolerant and approximately 50% of the nation has an intolerance to cow’s milk. If we just listened to our bodies, it would scream to the top of its lungs that, “Cow’s milk is no good for the us.”

100% Vegan
MYTH 3: ALL VEGAN FOOD IS HEALTHY FOOD
You may be surprised to read this coming from me. Considering I am an owner of a vegan restaurant, however as long as there is a dollar to be earned, the potential to do harm will be great. Let’s get one thing straight, capitalism does not discriminate. Meaning even an industry that historically has been hyper focused on the well-being of animals and the health of human beings has now been saturated with mock health products. But this isn’t nuanced, we now have a new shiny term to call it. For example, orange juice, which is obviously a non-animal product, thereby vegan, is considered to be a healthy choice, right? Wrong. In fact, 99% of fruit juices are unhealthy unless it is actually the juice from the fruit. To help identify the 1%, it is simple, there should only be one ingredient and that is the fruit. Check this link out below to potentially discover what’s in your OJ.
To better understand why the term vegan does not equal health, we can start by understanding what vegan actually is. The term means not derived from animals. So, a person who classifies themselves as vegan not only does not eat fish or chicken, but they do not wear leather because it derives from animals. Make sense? Now that we got that out the way, consider this, on a vegan “diet” you can still consume fries, Oreos, chips, juice, and processed food like microwaveable chicken-less chicken etc. My goal is to get you to understand that just because the food industry labels something vegan does not change the dynamic of the foods you have always known to be unhealthy. For example, high fructose corn syrup is vegan. Most oils that we traditionally use to fry food in is vegan. White bread and white rice are all vegan but also detrimental to your health. Be wary of shiny new labels that claim vegan because even a flaming pile of crap is vegan.
